FACES: New album taking shape - release 2026?
Faces drummer Kenney Jones has confirmed in an interview that he and his bandmates Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood have recorded eleven songs for a new album. The iconic trio have been working on a new album for years, but have yet to release any material. Wood first spoke of plans to reunite for another album in 2021, but their respective busy schedules have meant they have had little time for the new album. The Faces' last LP, Ooh La La, was released in 1973.In 2023, Stewart admitted to Vulture that the band was struggling to record new material: ‘We're still struggling to make this album. We'll see. Some of it might see the light of day.’In November last year, Stewart spoke more optimistically about the Faces' future on the Soccer A-Z podcast, revealing that he was meeting with Jones and Wood the next day because they were working on a “documentary” to celebrate a significant anniversary. He also said, ‘We're trying to get an album out. ’Now, in a new interview with The Telegraph, Jones confirmed that they recorded ‘about eleven tracks’ at RAK Studios in London, including one with Jools Holland. The drummer explained: ‘Not all of them will be right for the album. But most of them are good.’When asked about a timetable for a possible release, Jones added: ‘I can't imagine it coming out this year. But I can see it coming out next year. Everyone is doing something different. We do little snippets of recordings here and there. And suddenly the Stones are back on tour, Rod is back on the road...’While the Rolling Stones won't be touring in 2025, taking the pressure off Wood's schedule, Stewart will have a busy summer, with concerts in Europe, the States and Central and South America. It will be interesting to see when the three remaining Faces members get together again to record and mix the new album.
