Penny's stadium ban: Sir Rod had to stay at home

It was FA Cup weekend in Scotland. On Saturday and Sunday, the two finalists for the final on 24 May were played at Hampden Park in Glasgow. On Sunday, Celtic faced St Johnstone FC. Normally we expect to see pictures of jubilant Celtic fan Rod Stewart in the stands the day after the match, who sometimes likes to clash with the opponent's supporters or let tears of joy flow freely.
But we'll have to do without these pictures today. Because Sir Rod has been grounded and this was ordered by his wife Penny. The 80-year-old was told in no uncertain terms that he could not watch his Hoops' game in the stadium under any circumstances and instead had to attend an Easter family dinner.

Penny merciless: House arrest for Rod

‘I can't watch the game at the stadium,’ Rod said. ‘My wife gave me a good telling off’. So he dutifully followed his Penny's instructions and decided not to make the trip to Glasgow.
‘If I'd turned up at the stadium, I don't know how my lovely wife would have reacted,’ grinned the singer. ‘Let's assume that I would be singing in a higher voice from then on.’
Tam Cowan, co-presenter of BBC Radio Scotland's Off the Ball programme, said: ‘Sounds like a wise decision by Rod - I can't get First Cut is the Deepest out of my head. He may be one of the most famous men in the world, a pop superstar with a glittering 50-year career and an estimated personal fortune of £300 million, but it turns out he's just like the rest of us.... he's scared of his wife!’.
Nevertheless, the Bhoys in Green did not show any weakness in their clash with St Johnstone, winning easily 5-0 even without Rod's support in the stands. Celtic put four eggs in their opponents' Easter nest before the break: Callum McGregor (34), Daizen Maeda (37, 45+1) and Adam Idah (45) gave them a clear 4-0 lead at the break. After the break, Portugal's Jota made it 5-0 (67').
Celtic will now face Aberdeen FC, who beat Heart of Midlothian 2-1 after extra time on Saturday, in the final on 24 May, which will also take place at Hampden Park. At this point, let's wish Sir Rod that another family dinner is not on the agenda on 24 May. And as a special service for the Celtic supporter who was unable to attend, we offer him all the highlights and goals of the game here:
