It's time to get started, many of our American friends who will be travelling to Atlantic City on Friday can hardly wait. In two days, Rod Stewart will kick off his 2025 tour with a performance at the Etess Arena in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Friday's show marks the start of a special year of concerts for Sir Rod, who recently revealed his plans for 2025 in an interview: ‘In the year I turn 80, I want to play 80 concerts’. So here we go with this concert marathon in what is probably the most popular gambling city in the United States after Las Vegas.
And the setting will be perfect: The arena is sold out except for a few remaining tickets, so Sir Rod can expect a full house and packed rows of spectators when he takes to the stage at 8pm local time on Friday.
It is generally assumed that Rod will not change much of the setlist of his big hits. ‘You have to give the people what they want to hear,’ he emphasised time and again in his interviews. One or two songs will certainly be changed from gig to gig, and the singer's entire repertoire would certainly be enough for a non-stop mega-concert lasting several days.
This will be Rod Stewart's first appearance in Atlantic City since August 2022, and the start of a concert year with a total of 68 shows announced so far in North America, South and Central America and Europe. Perhaps the biggest highlight for Sir Rod will be his appearance in the ‘legends slot’ at the legendary Glastonbury Festival in his native England in June, where he will play in front of around 200,000 people.
