MERRY CHRISTMAS BABY: Storyteller's little (fictional) Christmas story

Once upon a time, there was a small, snowy village in Scotland where people looked forward to Christmas every year with great anticipation. The inhabitants decorated their houses with lights and fir branches, and the streets were filled with delicious smells and merry laughter. This year, however, just before Christmas, an air of sadness had settled over the village.

The village pub, which was a centre of the community, was simply not ready for the festivities. The old jukebox, which usually played the most beautiful songs, was broken. In a village where music was the centrepiece of every celebration, Christmas without the familiar sounds seemed unimaginable. Everyone had particularly fond memories of evenings spent singing along to the songs of Rod Stewart, whose raspy voice and honest lyrics always set the mood.

People all over the village could be heard sighing: ‘Oh, if only Rod Stewart was here to get us in the Christmas spirit.’ A young boy named Jamie, who was a big Rod Stewart fan, heard these words and decided to do something about it. With a brave heart and a plan, he made his way to the old post office where he wrote a letter to Rod Stewart:

‘Dear Mr Stewart,

We all love your music and miss the songs from the jukebox that always brought us so much joy. This year Christmas just doesn't feel right without your voice. Could you come round and give us a little concert? We would be so happy.

Best wishes from the snowy little village,

Jamie and everyone who loves your music’

Jamie sent the letter and hoped that Rod Stewart would reach him in time. The days passed and although the villagers repaired the jukebox as best they could, the music just wouldn't play.

Finally, on Christmas Eve, all the villagers gathered in the pub. Just when everyone thought it was going to be a quiet celebration without music this year, they suddenly heard a familiar voice from outside. The door opened and there stood none other than Rod Stewart himself, in a warm coat and with a mischievous smile on his face!

Rod greeted the surprised villagers, stood in the centre of the room and said: ‘Merry Christmas, everyone! I've heard that the jukebox is broken. How about we just make our own music tonight?’

He got out his guitar and soon the first notes of ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ rang out. The villagers sang along, and the village was filled with Rod's unique voice, which enchanted Christmas in a wonderful way. More songs followed, including ‘Maggie May’ and ‘Sailing,’ and people's hearts were filled with a deep sense of joy.

For the villagers, it was the best Christmas ever. Rod stayed for a while, drinking hot chocolate with them and sharing stories from his childhood in Scotland. Jamie, the little boy, sat proudly next to him and listened intently, happy that his Christmas wish had come true.

And so Christmas Eve in the small village ended with a smile and the sounds of Rod Stewart's voice, which echoed in everyone's hearts for a long time to come.
