Rod is back: Bethlehem celebrates a roaring party

Sir Rod Stewart returned to the concert stage last Wednesday evening and celebrated a roaring party with around 3,000 fans in the rather cosy atmosphere of the Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem (Pennsylvania), peppered with hits from six decades.

At 8 p.m. local time sharp, a cheerful and - after a five-week break from touring - well-rested Rod Stewart took to the stage. The evening really got going with the first sounds of Havin' a Party at the latest. A two-hour show followed, during which Stewart took the audience on a journey through the last few decades. Hit followed hit: including Tonight's The Night and Maggie May from the 1970s, Young Turks and Some Guys Have All The Luck from the 1980s and Forever Young from the 1990s. In Bethlehem, fans of all ages got their money's worth.

The 79-year-old once again decided not to play songs from his latest album Swing Fever, but this did not dampen the mood among the audience. ‘You have to give the people what they want to hear,’ said Sir Rod time and again in the past. And that's exactly what he did during the 120 minutes or so in Bethlehem. Towards the end of the concert came the inevitable, musically posed question Da Ya Think I'm Sexy and there really wasn't anyone who wouldn't have wished this evening would never end by now at the latest.

Fans go home happy

As always, Rod did not disappoint: everyone in Bethlehem went home happy and satisfied that evening. Especially those who were lucky enough to get one of the coveted signed footballs at the end of the show.

The Stewart entourage is now travelling to the Bahamas, where the exclusive concert in Nassau is scheduled for tomorrow.
