As announced by us, Sir Rod Stewart was honoured as Keeper of the Quaich at a ceremony at Blair Castle in the Scottish Highlands on Monday.
Sir Rod was awarded the corresponding medal at the festive and entertaining event. Rod's whisky label Wolfie's described the evening in a tongue-in-cheek comment: ‘It was an evening of fun and frolic, dancing on the tables and one of the Dukes even got his bum pinched!’
By being named Keeper of the Quaich, Stewart joins an illustrious list of Keepers that includes King Charles III and former US President Ronald Reagan. The appointment of a Keeper is the highest honour to be awarded within the Scottish whiskey culture and was first carried out in 1988.
