Celtic advance to the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup - now against Aberdeen

The Hoops won 5:2 (1:2) in their quarter-final home game against second division side FC Fallkirk and are through to the last four.

However, the game against the valiant Fallkirk side was by no means as straightforward as the result would suggest. The 21-time League Cup winners from Glasgow struggled for long stretches and even fell behind twice against the second-division side, who were bold at times.

It was only when coach Brendan Rodgers made four changes after around an hour that the Bhoys really got going in Green and turned a 2-1 deficit at the break into a 5-2 lead within 14 minutes with two goals from Adam Idah (70th and 72nd) and Nicolas Kühn (81st and 84th). In the first half, Ross Maciver (11) and Finn Yeats (45.+1) had put the second division team ahead twice. Paulo Bernardo equalised for the Hoops in the 21st minute to make it 1-1.

Celtic will face Aberdeen FC in the semi-finals on 2 or 3 November. The second semi-final will be contested by Glasgow Rangers and Motherwell FC.  The final will take place at the same venue on 15 December.
