One Last Time, the motto of the 2024 European tour now also applies in the Nevada desert. Rod Stewart kicked off his last series of concerts in the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Wednesday - after 13 extremely successful years in the gambling capital. Sir Rod first took to the stage at the Caesars Colosseum in May 2011 and what followed was an era. 13 years on stage at The Caesars and almost always a sold-out venue. Around 900,000 visitors have seen Rod Stewart live in Las Vegas during this time. The Stewart residency has been very rewarding for everyone involved.
‘Sir Rod Stewart is a true rock legend, and we have had the great privilege of being his home in Las Vegas at the Colosseum for well over a decade,’ said Jason Gastwirth, CEO of Caesars Entertainment, in a statement. ‘Throughout his residency, we were impressed by Rod's impeccable showmanship and the superstar talent he brought to his timeless catalogue of hits, and we are incredibly grateful for the countless memories he created for our guests.’
On Wednesday, at his opening concert 2024, Sir Rod also created these memories. The Colosseum was once again sold out and the fans were not disappointed. In 90 minutes, Rod and his band strung together hit after hit and, as in the summer in Europe, the 4,000 or so visitors experienced a Rod party of a special kind.
The online magazine Las Vegas Magazine, referring to the last shows at the Colosseum, spoke of a ‘sentimental journey’ that Sir Rod is taking his fans on these days. ‘Dance with Rod one more time to Da Ya Think I'm Sexy or dive back into the days of the Faces with Ooh La La,’ the magazine wrote. Six more concerts are scheduled at Caesars Palace until 7 August, when Sir Rod's 13-year residency in Las Vegas comes to an end.
Eight more concerts will then follow until mid-September as part of a North American tour, including a joint show with Billy Joel on 13 September in Cleveland.
Sir Rod will then conclude the 2024 concert year with two more shows in Europe: on 15 December in Coruna, Spain, and three days later in Herning, Denmark. Here are a few snapshots from Caesars Palace on 24 July.
